TRAFFIC ALERT: Battlefield Road OPEN at Route 65
Also, Ramps at Interchange OPEN to Traffic
Battlefield Road at Route 65 is OPEN to traffic in the new the new diverging diamond interchange traffic pattern. At the same time, the ramps at the interchange are OPEN.
Drivers are urged to use caution when traveling through the interchange and expect delays. Traffic on Battlefield Road is shifted to the north side of the bridge. There is only one lane open in each direction and traffic is in the diverging diamond traffic pattern.
With a winter storm bearing down on the interchange, drivers are urged to use extreme caution due to the new traffic pattern. MoDOT and city of Springfield snow plows will pay extra attention to this area, doing what they can to keep the area clear of snow and ice. However, if snow is falling at a heavy rate, the new striping and lane dividers may be difficult to see.
The switch to the diverging diamond and the lane reductions at the interchange is needed to allow crews to demolish the south half of the Battlefield Road bridge which is scheduled for Feb. 22 and Feb. 23. During the bridge demolition, Battlefield Road and Route 65 will be CLOSED with Route 65 traffic routed over the ramps at the interchange.
