Battlefield Road/Route 65 Interchange:
Drivers Invited to View Construction Plans During Nov. 18 Public Meeting
Springfield- Drivers interested in traffic impacts and the construction schedule for the Battlefield Road/Route 65 interchange reconstruction project are invited to a public meeting on Tuesday, November 18, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The open house-style meeting will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on November 18 at Second Baptist Church at 3111 E. Battlefield Road in Room 210A. No formal presentation is planned.
Those who attend may come and go at any time during the meeting. MoDOT and contractor representatives will be on hand to show the plans for rebuilding the interchange. Those who attend can learn more about how the project will be built and when traffic impacts are expected.
Those who are unable to attend the in-person meeting can view all maps and other displays at an online public meeting starting November 18 on MoDOT's Southwest District web site.
The work currently underway on the project is causing minimal impacts to traffic. Nighttime lane closings are possible at times on Battlefield Road and Route 65.
In January 2015, work will begin to replace the Battlefield Road bridge over Route 65 one-half at a time. Unlike other Diverging Diamond interchanges recently built in the Springfield area, the Battlefield Road/Route 65 interchange will be converted to the Diverging Diamond traffic pattern sometime in January or early February to help move traffic more efficiently during reconstruction of the Battlefield Road bridge.
MoDOT is sending out weekly construction updates via email and are posting the updates on its web site. Anyone interested in receiving construction updates may contact MoDOT's Southwest District Office in Springfield at 417.895.7600 or request updates by emailing MoDOT's Southwest District office.
