Battlefield Road/Route 65 Interchange
Project Set to Begin Week of October 13
Springfield- Initial work to replace the Battlefield Road bridge over Route 65 and convert the interchange to a Diverging Diamond in southeast Springfield will begin the week of October 13, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The work planned for the remainder of 2014 will cause minimal impacts to traffic. The work will be confined to nighttime work hours when drivers can expect lane closings on Battlefield Road and Route 65.
During the week of October 13, drivers will see contractor crews installing work zone signs and moving in heavy equipment.
In January 2015, work will begin to replace the Battlefield Road bridge over Route 65 one-half at a time. Unlike other Diverging Diamond interchanges recently built in the Springfield area, the Battlefield Road/Route 65 interchange will be converted to the Diverging Diamond traffic configuration sometime in late January or early February to help move traffic more efficiently during reconstruction of the Battlefield Road bridge.
MoDOT will host a public meeting in early to mid-November to talk with area residents and business owners about the construction plans for building the complex project and the resulting traffic impacts. The meeting details will be announced at a later date.
During construction, MoDOT will send out weekly construction updates via email and post the updates on its web site at www.modot.org/southwest . Anyone interested in receiving construction updates may contact MoDOT's Southwest District Office in Springfield at 417.895.7600 or request updates by emailing MoDOT's Southwest District office.
