Battlefield Road/Route 65 Interchange Reconstruction Project

Update for Week of April 13, 2015

• Southbound right-lane closed on Route 65 between Sunshine Street and Battlefield Road April 10-12 for paving
• Nighttime traffic slowdowns and short-term traffic stops on Route 65 at Battlefield Road April 17-19 for bridge work

Work Scheduled: 

• Pouring concrete for southbound Route 65 auxiliary lane between Sunshine Street and Battlefield Road Saturday and Sunday, April 11-12
• Building bridge column in median of Route 65
• Installing bridge girders for new Battlefield Road bridge over Route 65 Friday-Sunday, April 17-19
• Grading shoulder along southbound Route 65 between Sunshine Street and Battlefield Road
• Grading work to widen southbound Route 65 off ramp (northwest corner of Battlefield Road and Route 65)
• Building retaining wall on southwest corner of Battlefield Road and Route 65
• Installing storm drain across Woodstock Avenue (nighttime noise possible for one or two nights for breaking rock)
• Installing curb and gutter along Battlefield Road between Woodstock Avenue and Turtle Hatch Road east of Route 65

Traffic Impacts: 

• Southbound right-lane of Route 65 closed between Sunshine Street and Battlefield Road ‘round the clock between 7 p.m. Friday, April 10, until 6 p.m. Sunday, April 12
• Route 65 slowdowns and possible traffic stops at Battlefield Road.  Work hours: 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday-Sunday, April 17-19.
• Route 65 traffic shifted AWAY from median at Battlefield Road
• TRAFFIC CONGESTION on Battlefield Road at Route 65. One lane open in each direction in diverging diamond traffic pattern
• Crews and equipment entering and leaving work areas

(Weather or construction delays could alter the work schedule.)

Project Summary:

• Replace Battlefield Road bridge over Route 65 one-half at a time
• Convert interchange to a Diverging Diamond configuration
• Build northbound and southbound auxiliary lanes on Route 65 to connect Sunshine Street and Battlefield Road ramps
• Install new traffic signal at Battlefield Road and Woodstock Avenue

Completion Date: September 2015

Total Project Cost: $12.5 million.

Partnership Project: City of Springfield, Greene County, Ozarks Transportation Organization, Jack Henry & Associates, Justice Jewelers and McLean Enterprises, Inc.
